After a changeable season, Borussia Dortmund secured at least the consolation price in the Bundesliga. The team of coach Marco Rose won 3-1 (1-0) at relegated SpVgg Greuther Fürth and won the runner -up for the eighth time. The BVB also spoils Fürth’s outgoing coach Stefan Leitl from a farewell to the Ronhof.

Julian Brandt brought BVB, who had lost his last two games against Meister FC Bayern (1: 3) and Bochum (3: 4), in the lead in the 26th minute. Jessic Ngankam (70th) equalized with his first division. But the Agile Brandt (72nd) and Felix Passlack (77th) promptly countered. For the SpVgg it was the eleventh game without victory.
In the Franks, however, the last Bundesliga home game was all about the farewell of Leitl. That would be “not easy to emotion”, the 44-year-old said before the game. After three and a half years, Leitl leaves the Franks, probably towards Hanover. SpVgg managing director Rachid Azzouzi spoke of a “sad day” at Sky.
BVB begins with Haaland
BVB started with Erling Haaland, whose commitment was questionable due to a slight infection. The Norwegian initially hung in the air. The Borussia had significantly more possession against the bottom. But when playing into the top, the Dortmunders acted too inaccurate.
Fürth was able to position himself again and again – until Brandt almost hit out of nowhere. After a shot from Raphael Guerreiro and a parade from Andreas Linde, he dusted out from a short distance.
BVB from the beginning on the trigger
The guests stayed on the trigger. In many actions, however, the determination was missing. Fürth tried it with counterattacks. Ex-Dortmund Tobias Raschl (41.), whose shot defended Marwin Hitz. “You can already see why we are 18th and BVB second,” said Azzouzi at the break.

Little changed at first. Fürth was more present, but Dortmund checked the game without effort and without shine. Haaland, already 21 goals this season, missed the 2-0 after an hour. This should take revenge when Ngankam met with a beautiful lifter. But the BVB struck back ice cold.
