Inter this is a counter in front of the city rival AC Milan, but can add to Hellas Verona (8:45 p.m.) on Sunday.
An own goal by Simone Romagnoli (40th), a double pack by Lautaro Martinez (45./64.) And a later goal by Alexis Sanchez (90.+4) saved Inter from a slip.
Empoli had a strong start with goals by Andrea Pinamonti (5th) and Kristjan Asllani (28th).
National player Robin Gosens sat on the bench at Inter 90 minutes.
