Pellegrino Rino Matarazzo (born November 28, 1977 in Wayne, New Jersey) is a US-Italian football coach and former player. Since January 2020 he is head coach of the VFB Stuttgart.

For some football Bundesliga, this would be a bad scenario: The dating gate is positively tested on Corona, must then isolate two weeks, then can not train with the team first and thus has to wait for his comeback.

That s exactly what the VfB Stuttgart is happening with its goalkeeper Florian Müller. Only on Monday the 23-year-old should be able to train again, he will also miss the directional match on Sunday (5:30 pm / Dazn) against the 1st FC Union Berlin. And yet the VfB can remain relaxed. Because he can put on Fabian Bredlow instead.

We are very grateful that we have Fabian Bredlow as a number two, said coach Pellegrino Matarazzo. He is a great player, a great goalkeeper.

After his strong performance last at the 1-1 at Borussia Mönchengladbach, some of the 26-year-old even hung on his way to Müller, but at the hierarchy in the gate should also change nothing at a convincing idea against Union for the time being. That s nothing, what you change every day, that s a long-term decision. That s why it will not be able to shake it, Matarazzo said. Means: is Müller again fit, he returns to the gate of Swabia.

Six Corona Falls at VFB Stuttgart

Matarazzo must not break the head about this topic, because the goalkeeping position at the Swabia with Bredlow and Müller is best occupied.

Instead, the 43-year-old plagues completely different personal care. After six players (including Bredlow and Müller) have been tested positively on Corona over the past few weeks, beside Müller also distinguisher Waldemar Anton and Wing Storm Roberto Massimo against Berlin further out.

In addition, the long-term violated scorer Silas Katompa Mvumpa and Sasa Kalajdzic are missing. Inserts of newcomer Omar Marmoush (blow on the syndesmosis) and Tanguy Coulibaly (bruise) are also questionable.

We always get neck strokes, as far as injuries are concerned, said VFB Müllers director Sven Mislinat last. Matarazzo also gave him that the tense staff situation sometimes suited him.

pellegrino matarazzo presses the reset button

The American straightened the look but quickly forward. Sure, I ll get up and think shit, sorry, a pity, he said. But then I quickly press the RESET button quickly.

In fact, the Stuttgart last made pretty much the best of the miserable situation: against Hoffenheim (3: 1) and in Gladbach they brought four points and gathered some air in the lower table regions.

The coach and the Müllers director like how the team deals with setbacks. After all, there is also a few positive news: Orel Mangala and Erik Thommy train after home isolation long ago with the team and stand against Berlin in the squad. With a victory, the VfB would be released for the time being greater relegation worries. Fabian Bredlow could lay the foundation for this.
